Local Oratorical Contest- 19 January 2004 7:00 PM Magnolia Manor, Richmond Hill, Ga Local 1st stage of the American Legion National High School Oratorical Contest. Post Annually Awards a $100.00 Scholarship to the winner.

Annual Flag Retirement Ceremony & Chili Cook-off Fund Raiser- 2004 date 20 March 3:00 PM JF Gregory Park. Annual Chili Cook-off from 3-7PM followed by the Post 27 Annual Flag Retirement ceremony at 7:30 PM. Tickets for the Chili Dinner are $5.00 Donation per Adult (Children under 12 are Free) for an all you can eat Chili, and Hot Dog dinner. Followed by the stirring ceremony honoring the 44 3rd Infantry Division Soldiers Killed during Operation Iraqi Freedom and our flags that have completed their service to our community, state, and nation. Funds raised at this event go Local American Legion Non-profit Programs including Children & Youth and Scholarship Programs.

Memorial Day Ceremonies- 0800 Flags set at Half Mast at City Hall, Prayer Breakfast at 0900 followed by flag replacement on local veterans grave sites. 1200 Flags set to full staff and Post resolution read honoring casualties of current military operations.

Annual Children & Youth Picnic- Post 27 honors community children and parents that participate in Legion programs and our sponsors,

Annual Middle School Essay Contest- Annual Contest Co sponsored by Barnes & Noble Booksellers, Inc for all Middle School students to write essays on selected topics designed to foster thought about a citizen’s obligation to their country, as delineated or implied in the US Constitution. Contest runs from Labor Day to Halloween, judging from Halloween to Thanksgiving, Prizes awarded in December.

Patriot Day Activities- 0900 Annual Distribution of Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution to 4th grade students at George Washington Carver Upper Elementary School. Joint Ceremonies with Post 164 Pembroke (details to be announced).

The Great Ogeechee Seafood Festival- Participates annually with food booth highlighting Clam Chowder, Hot Dogs, Sausage Dogs, and Non-Profit Raffle. 3rd Weekend in October

Savannah Veterans Day Parade- Post participates with color guard and members annually.

Richmond Hill Christmas Parade- Post participates with color guard and members annually.
